J. Charles Smith, M.D.

J. Charles Smith, M.D. was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas and then attended Austin College majoring in psychology. He completed his premedical studies at UC San Diego then returned to the University of Texas for medical school. Dr. Smith completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at USC- LA County Medical Center and stayed on at USC-LA County for residency in diagnostic radiology followed by fellowships in both nuclear medicine and pediatric radiology at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital.

Dr Smith and his family moved to Fresno in 1980 to join the Wishon Radiological Group and has served as the Medical Director of Radiology and Imaging at Children’s Hospital Central California since that time.

His wife Susie is a Fresno native, graduate of Fresno State, and former elementary school teacher. They met as students in Europe and have been married for more than 40 years. They have two children, Brenden who after attending Yale, works for an investment firm in San Francisco and daughter Alison who works in public relations and marketing in LA after graduating from UCLA.

Dr Smith's areas of particular professional interest are pediatric imaging and fetal-obstetrical ultrasound.

In his free time Dr. Smith enjoys the Central Coast.
