What to Bring and How to Prepare
We’re looking forward to seeing you at your upcoming appointment. In order to ensure that you are prepared for your exam, we’ve provided these instructions.
As you read through them, be sure to contact us if you have any questions. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your healthcare team. We’ll see you soon.
Insurance Information:
- Please be sure any pre-authorization requirements of your health plan are met prior to your appointment
- Be sure to bring your insurance card and any co-payment required by your insurance plan
- We contract with most major insurance carriers - if you have a questions regarding your specific plan, just give us a call.
What to bring:
- Physicians’ order or prescription
- Prior imaging /x-ray/examination
- If you need to check out your x-rays, please call us 24 hours in advance
When to come:
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment time
Mammography Examination
- Please do not use deodorant, perfume, powder, ointment or preparation of any kind in the underarm areas or on your breast.
- Wear a blouse with a skirt or slacks instead of a dress, because it will be necessary to undress from the waist up for the examination.
Bone Density Analysis
- Please do not take calcium supplements for two days before the exam
- Wear clothing without snaps, buttons, or zippers
Ultrasound Examinations (Pelvic and OB)
- OB patients over 25 weeks DO NOT have to drink water
- OB patients under 25 weeks please try to:
• Urinate 1 ½ hours before your appointment and then...
• Start drinking 3 glasses of water (24 oz. total)
• Please finish drinking the water 1 hour BEFORE your appointment time
• Try NOT to empty your bladder again until the exam is completed
Ultrasound Examinations (Abdomen, Gallbladder, Kidney, Aorta)
- Eat a light supper the evening prior to the examination.
- Nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to the examination.
Ultrasound Examinations (for all other body parts)
- No preparation necessary
Hysterosalpinogram and Hysterosonogram
- No unprotected sexual intercourse from the start of your menstrual period until after the procedure
- The day your period starts, call to make an appointment at 559.432.7442
- Schedule your exam for 9-12 days after the start of your menstrual period
- Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, the night before your exam
- Bring a light snack to eat when your exam is complete
MRI
- Assure that you do NOT have a pacemaker or brain aneurysm clip.
- Notify staff if you have any metal or implanted devices anywhere in your body
- Do NOT eat or drink four hours prior to the exam
*CT Abdomen and/or Pelvis
- Pick up two oral contrast bottles from our office prior to your exam
- Drink one bottle four hours prior to the exam
- Drink one bottle one hour prior to the exam
- Except for oral contrast, do NOT eat or drink anything four hours prior to the exam
- If you have an AM appointment, you may drink the first bottle the night before and the second bottle one hour prior to the exam
*CT Examinations for all other body parts
- Except for oral contrast, do NOT eat or drink anything for at least four hours prior to the exam
* If you are allergic to iodine or IVP dye, notify our office prior to your appointment
* If you are on diabetic medication, notify our office prior to your appointment
